Man pours acid on paramour's head, consumes poison

A man consumed poison today after pouring acid on the head of his paramour following a quarrel at Rishra area of Hooghly district.
The man entered the parental house of his paramour at Baruapara locality at around 11 AM and they had a quarrel over some issue, following which she told him to leave, Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar Chowdhury said.
The man left but returned soon and poured acid on the head of the 32-year-old woman.
He also consumed poison thereafter.
Both the man and the woman were admitted to Serampore Walsh Hospital in a critical condition, the SP said.

The woman had her in-laws' place at Chanpadanga under Tarakeswar police station of the district. The man too hailed from Chanpadanga.
She had no relation with her husband for several years and was staying with her parents along with her teenaged son, the SP said, adding neither of the woman's parents was present at the time of the incident.
However, her son was at home.
