Commissioner of Police, Barrackpore Commisionerate, Niraj Kumar Singh said the body of Kasinath Paul was found in a decomposed state after police and neighbours went inside the room where it was kept.
The cause of death and circumstances were being probed.
Paul's family members were present when the body was recovered following neigbbours' complaint about foul smell emanating from the house in Naihati town area.
