The condition of Girish Chaturvedi, a resident of Sitaram Bada, was out of danger, they said.
Chaturvedi was shot outside the temple in Chatta Bazar area under Kotwali police station when he was going back after paying obeisance to the deity.
"Three persons have been named and we hope to nab them tonight," DySP Chakra Pani Tripathi said, adding "property dispute is stated to be the reason".
