Man strangles wife, daughters to death

A man allegedly strangulated his wife to death after she failed to bear a male child in their 6-year-long wedded life, besides killing their two minor daughters in a remote village of the district today, triggering public outcry.
32-year-old Nirmal Rout, assisted by his two younger brothers strangled the victim Rinarani Jena and two daughters, Kandhei(5) and Kuni(2), in Dhobeigada of Dera gram panchayat, Sub Divisional Police Officer, Ramachandra Goud said.
"It was a cold-blooded murder. While Nirmal masterminded the crime, his two brothers- Ratnakar and Bulu - abetted it," Goud said.
As the news of the triple murder spread, people took to the streets and caught hold of the two brothers who were trying to escape from the village, beat them up and handed them over to the police.

Police have registered cases of murder and dowry death against Nirmal, his parents and two brothers.
Nirmal and his parents are absconding, while the two brothers have been arrested, they added.
