The arrested have been identified as Khalid and Piruddin. While Khalid was apprehended from near Akshardham on October 17, his associate was arrested from Anand Vihar.
"Khalid had allegedly supplied arms to the gang involved in the recent Rs 5.5 crore heist in Defence Colony. He had allegedly supplied a pistol to Hari Kishan who committed the heist along with others," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Yadav said.
Khalid told police that he met an illegal arms supplier in Hapur, who used to bring illegal arms from Bihar and supply it to gangsters.
"He took up the work of supplying illegal arms for easy money. He sold weapons for Rs 18,000 and made a profit of Rs 2,000 on the sale of each weapon," the DCP said.
