Manipur BJP president nominated for Rajya Sabha bypoll

Manipur BJP president Kshetrimayum Bhabananda Singh has been nominated as the party candidate for the Rajya Sabha bypoll in the state.
The decision to nominate Bhabananda to the lone RS seat of Manipur was taken today by the Central Election Committee of BJP, a party statement said.
The Rajya Sabha seat fell vacant after sitting member Haji Abdul Salam of the Congress passed away on February 28.
Congress has already nominated E Dwijamani for the RS bypoll scheduled for May 25.
Dwijamani had contested the last Manipur Assembly elections, but had lost.
