The decision to nominate Bhabananda to the lone RS seat of Manipur was taken today by the Central Election Committee of BJP, a party statement said.
The Rajya Sabha seat fell vacant after sitting member Haji Abdul Salam of the Congress passed away on February 28.
Congress has already nominated E Dwijamani for the RS bypoll scheduled for May 25.
Dwijamani had contested the last Manipur Assembly elections, but had lost.
