Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh held a high-level meeting with Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAFPD) minister M Okendro, CAFPD Commissioner Y Thamkishore, CAFPD Director M Yaiskul and Deputy Commissioners of all the districts last evening to discuss the progress of updating the list of proposed beneficiaries under the NFSO, the sources said.
It was decided in the meeting to finalise the list by September 30 next and families which do not own four-wheelers and do not pay taxes are eligible to enjoy benefits of the ordinance, sources said.
The beneficiaries would get five kilogramme of rice per head at Rs 3 per Kg every month besides dal, wheat and other commodities at the lowest price, sources said.
The NFSO, if promulgated in Manipur, would benefit about 23.87 lakh people out of a total population of about 28 lakh, sources said, adding that about 16.82 lakh beneficiaries in rural areas would enjoy the benefits and rest in urban areas.
The selected beneficiaries would be given National Food Security card, sources said, adding that the CAFPD department would also prepare and finalise the necessary database by September 30 next.
