Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann today sought simplification of the procedure of bringing back bodies of Indians who die in foreign countries.
"The MEA must simplify the procedure to bring back the bodies of dead as the families and relatives in such cases are facing a lot of harassment in view of ignorance about the procedure," the AAP MP said here.
In such cases, illiterate and poor rural people are badly affected as they send their wards to Gulf countries for labour jobs, he said.
He said that at present there is no facility of any helpline and people are ignorant about the procedure.
Mann claimed that after a long wait of four-and-a-half months, he was able to bring back the body of Davinder Singh (28), who died in Saudi Arabia on April 25. His body arrived at his native village Rurka near Mullanpur in Ludhiana and was cremated today.
On claims of Punjab'a AAP affairs being controlled by people outside the state, he said all national parties depute observers to states.
He said the allegations of AAP being controlled by "outsiders" are being created by Akali Dal under a deep rooted conspiracy against the party.
