Many villages under Sakoajhora gram panchayat I and II and Gajam gram panchayat I and II under Dhugpuri Block of Jalpaiguri district have been submerged by the flood waters of Duduya river, Block Development Officer of Dhupguri Soumen Dutraj said.
The flood affected people of the area have been provided polythene sheets, kerosene and packed food by the district administration, the BDO said.
Relief camps have also been opened for the flood affected people, Dutraj said.
Alipurduar District Magistrate Alice Vaiz visited the affected area and asked the officials to provide relief materials to the flood affected people.
The district magistrate also ordered the district officials to open relief camps for the flood affected people.
