Vivek, state secretary of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), was picked up yesterday by the Q branch, which deals with extremist activities, police sources said today.

The ultra, picked up based on a tip-off, was allegedly involved in arms training of maoists organised in Periyakulam in Theni district of the state in 2007, the sources said adding a hunt was on to nab an accomplice of him.
