Maoist bid to destroy bridge foiled, two policemen killed

Two policemen were killed and three injured in a gun fight with Maoists who tried to destroy a bridge in Aurangabad district today, the police said.
Two Special Auxiliary Police force personnel were killed and three injured in the encounter.
Sub-divisional Police Officer of Dawood Nagar Anwar Javed said around 50 armed Maoists arrived at the bridge over Dilaru river under Goh police station area and exploded bombs to destroy it.
However, no damage was caused to the bridge.
The encounter began when a police contingent reached the spot on getting the information. The Maoists fired at the security personnel who retaliated.
Casualty or injury on the side of the red rebels was not known.
A combing operation was on, the SDPO said.
