Former Union minister Matang Sinh, who was arrested in connection with the multi-crore Saradha chitfund scam and admitted to the state-run SSKM hospital, was today released from the hospital and sent back to the jail.
"Sinh has been released from the hospital in the evening and has been immediately sent back to the Alipore Central Correctional Home," a top city police official said.
The Special Crime branch of CBI had arrested Sinh in connection with the ongoing investigation into the multi-crore Saradha chitfund scam on January 31 and was charged with criminal conspiracy and cheating in the Saradha Realty case.
On February 1, Sinh was remanded to 13 days judicial custody by a city court though he was not produced before it as he was admitted in the hospital.
The former Congress MP from Assam had been earlier questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Saradha case in New Delhi.
