Malayalam daily Mathrubhumi, one of the leading media groups in Kerala, today donated Rs five crore to the Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) to take up flood relief works.
Mathrubhumi Managing Director M P Veerendrakumar and Managing Editor P V Chandran handed over a cheque of Rs 5 crore to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here, a release from the CM's office said.
Mathrubhumi Joint Managing Director M V Shreyamskumar donated his one month salary of Rs 20 lakh.
He would also donate his five years MLA pension to CMDRF, the release said.
The deluge in the state, the worst in a century, had claimed 474 lives since May 29, besides causing widespread destruction.
