Mathura murder case: RLD demands CBI probe, Shrikant Sharma's

The RLD has demanded Uttar Pradesh minister Shrikant Sharma's resignation and a CBI probe into a couple's killing here in March and the police's failure to nab the accused, which led their 20-year-old daughter into depression and she allegedly committed suicide on Saturday.
State Power Minister Sharma is an MLA from Mathura.
Banwari Lal and Rani Bala were allegedly killed on March 8, when their children were sleeping in the house of neighbour as construction work was going on in their house in Amar Colony. Their daughter Rakhi allegedly committed suicide seven months later.
After the suicide, SSP Swapnil Mamgai suspended SHO of Highway Police Station Girish Chandra Tewari on the charge of dereliction of duty and failure to solve the murder case.

However, Samajwadi Party leader Sanjai Lathar said, "Register a case for abetting suicide against the SHO, district police chief and the district magistrate since the woman in her suicide note had clearly held them responsible for her taking the extreme action."
He visited the two remaining members of the family, 17- year-old Rahul and his 14-year-old sister Deepa and condoled the death of Rakhi and the murder of both their parents.

Though state minister Sharma, after discussing the matter with the Chief Minister, has declared help of Rs 5 lakh to the family and security has been provided for the remaining two members, the RLD is not satisfied.

"Sharma should tender his resignation for his indifferent attitude over the incident for seven months," Kunvar Narendra Singh, district president of the RLD said and also demanded a CBI probe and transfer of district magistrate Arvind Malappa Bangari and SSP Swapnil Mamgai.
Meanwhile, social activist Madhu Mangal Shukla said, "I have filed a PIL in Allahabad High Court for a CBI probe into the Amar Colony murder case and police inaction in it.
