Fearing persecution, all directors on the company board as well as senior management have quit, Mawana Sugars said in regulatory filing.
"Due to regular persecution and prosecution of senior officers of the company by the State Authorities by way of FIRs causing coercion, harassment, humiliation and insult for no fault on their part, it has become impossible to run sugar operations in the state," the company said.
The company has three sugar mills at Mawana, Nanglamal and Titawi besides distillery at Nanglamal in the state.
The sugar mills will be closed from tomorrow on March 13, while the company also said it has informed the state about same on March 11.
