Maximum temperatures drop sharply in Punjab, Haryana

Maximum temperatures today plunged sharply across most parts of Punjab after widespread rains, with the mercury plummeting by two notches below normal at several places.
Maximum temperatures hovered between one to two degrees celsius below normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, the MeT office said here.
While Chandigarh was drenched by 37.2 mm of rainfall, 3.2 mm rains were recorded in Ambala and 1.8 mm in Amritsar.
In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Narnaul was hottest with a high of 36.5 degree celsius.
Hisar settled at a high of 36.2 degree celsius, followed by Bhiwani at 36 degree celsius.

Amritsar had a high of 33.6 degree celsius, one notch below normal, as was Ludhiana at 32.2 degree celsius.
Patiala had a high of 32.5 degree celsius, Karnal 31.4 degree celsius, both one notch below normal, Ambala and Chandigarh had an identical high of 30.5 degree celsius, two notches each below normal.
The MeT office has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana during the next 24 hours.
