MBA student caught pickpocketing in metro stations

A 23-year-old girl, pursuing MBA, was arrested here for allegedly pickpocketing in crowded Metro stations here to buy expensive gadgets, police said today.
Monika Khantwal, a resident of Deenpur in south-west Delhi's Najafgarh, was apprehended here recently following investigations into complaints about pick pocketing by women travellers in Central Secretariat and Rajiv Chowk Metro stations between 8.30 AM to 11.30 AM.
"She is a graduate from Delhi University and presently a student of MBA in Noida. She is also pursuing a one year diploma in computer course from an institute in Janakpuri. She desired to buy gadgets like expensive cell phones.

"As she wanted to live a lavish life, she has been committing pick pocketing in Metro since last few months," Ravindra Singh Yadav, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), said.
Monika had on February 21 allegedly stolen the purse of Venus and later withdrew Rs 50,000 from an ATM. On March one, she allegedly stole another bag and similarly withdrew Rs 20,000, Yadav said.
"CCTV footage was checked. On the basis of CCTV footage a trap was laid and Monika was arrested. The withdrawn money has been recovered from her -- Rs 25,000 in cash and Rs 45,000 from her bank account," he said.
