"A total of 56 nominations, including 20 by AAP, were filed on the second day of nominations today," an official of the Delhi State Election Commission said.
He said 23 nominations were filed for SDMC wards, 22 for NDMC wards and 11 for EDMC wards today.
The elections were notified yesterday and eight nominations were filed on the first day.
A total of 272 wards, including 104 each in North and South Delhi Municipal Corporations, and 64 in East Delhi Municipal Corporation will go to polls on April 23.
The last date of filing nominations is April 3. The scrutiny of papers will take place between April 3-5.
Over 1.32 crore voters will exercise their franchise in the elections, the official said, adding that the counting of votes will take place on April 26.
The option of NOTA will be available for the first time in the civic polls.
Besides the main contenders AAP, BJP and Congress, other political parties including BSP, NCP, Janta Dal (United) and the newly formed Swaraj India are also contesting the elections.
