City-based McNROE Consumer Products, owners of Wildstone brand, is looking at becoming the country's largest personal grooming company.
"We are growing strong with Wildstone and Secret Temptation brands. We are targeting to become the country's largest national personal grooming company over the next few years," McNROE founder and director N K Daga told PTI.
"We have recently become one among the top two players with Wildstone brand with around seven per cent market share in the Rs 2,400-crore deodorants industry despite the market being cluttered with 8-10 national brands, according to our estimates," he said.
Growing at "30-35 per cent year-on-year" in the booming deodorant market which is expanding at 18-20 per cent for the industry, Daga said the Kolkata-based company is determined to touch the top slot in the next two years.
Deodorant penetration in the urban areas itself is just nine per cent, encouraging several players to tap this market.
The company was also staying focused in its core strength deodorant business that generates about 55 per cent of its total revenue, he said.
McNROE, he said, has lined several personal grooming products for both men and women.
"We were lying low since last one year due to family related crisis. We had drawn strategies on the personal grooming market in a big way assisted by my son Ankit Daga," the city-based entrepreneur said.
"Everybody wanted to move out of Bengal. But, I was determined to build a company that will be admired in the personal care grooming staying from Kolkata," Daga said.
McNROE plans to introduce every possible product in grooming products including face wash, shower gel, saving cream, shortly along with deeper range of perfumes.
"We are looking at smaller packs also in all products for greater penetration in the tier-II and -III cities," Daga said.
