Having returned to the top tier I-League after four seasons, Mohammadan Sporting today unveiled their new coach Abdul Aziz Moshood who promised to bring back the glorious days of the historic club.
The Nigerian, who coached Atlantis FC of Helsinki in Finland, said he was aware of the club's reputation and that he would do his best to bring back the fans.
"I'm aware of the club's history. It has a huge fan base in India. I hope I can live up to the expectations. I would request the fans to be patient and look at the progress we are making.
"I'm not promising I-League in the first year (after being promoted to the first division) but I promise that we would be a side to reckon with and we would play good football. The first task is to settle down and then look for titles," the 44-year-old said after assuming charge in the official capacity at the club tent.
The side roped in high-profile striker Tolgay Ozbey, playmaker Penn Orji and defender Luciano Sabrosa and the Nigerian said the trio would be his main weapons.
"I've seen their videos, we have some quality players in our ranks. The trio would be our main weapon. I'm looking forward to work with them," he said.
With their stadium ruled out for two years, Mohammandan Sporting would use the Central Park facility with their first official practice from July 20.
As the pre-season acitivity is on in full swing, rival club Mohun Bagan meanwhile unveiled new Japanese recruit Katsumi Yusa.
The medio is hopeful of forming a partnership with their star Nigerian player Odafa Okolie.
"Odafa is known as the goal machine. If he scores, there's no looking back and I'm looking forward to do well and supply him," he said.
