MDMK chief Vaiko, who is in jail since April 3 in an eight-year-old sedition case, today moved a court here seeking bail.
The case is likely to come up for hearing in the principal sessions court here tomorrow.
Police had registered a case under IPC section related to sedition against Vaiko for a speech he made while releasing his book "Naan Kutram Sattugiren,"(I am Making the Accusation) in 2009.
Subsequently, a charge sheet was filed in 2010.
However, a trial is yet to commence in the case.
On April 3 this year, Vaiko had appeared before Metropolitan Magistrate S Gopinathan and filed a surrender petition.
Although the magistrate offered to release Vaiko on bail, he refused to apply for it. Hence, the magistrate remanded him in judicial custody.
Later, the MDMK leader was lodged in the Central Prison at Puzhal here, police said.
