Rajendran, representing 58th Ward, left the party to join DMK, in the presence of DMK Coimbatore Urban District Secretary Nachimuthu at a function.
Some 100 followers also joined DMK, along with the councillor, DMK sources said.
The City Corporation has 100 wards and more than 80 are represented by AIADMK.
