Delhi Health minister today sought an explanation from medical superintendents of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram hospitals over the pathetic sanitary and hygienic conditions prevailing there.
According to a senior Delhi government officer, Health Minister Satyendra Jain sought explanations from the medical superintendents within a week over professional lapses noticed by him during a surprise visit on Monday night.
Jain took a stock of the situation and interacted with patients and attendants.
"Hospital officials were inaccessible and unavailable even in situations of emergency," a senior Delhi Government official said.
The Minister said Delhi government will strictly implement zero tolerance policy towards callousness in dealing with patients and in providing quality healthcare and warned that insensitivity and lackadaisical attitude of those responsible for managing state hospitals will not be tolerated.
Earlier, Jain suspended two engineers at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for poor maintenance at the hospital.
Jain, who also holds a charge of Power, today ordered an inquiry into the blast that took place in Bawana power plant yesterday.
According to a senior official, inquiry will be carried out by a committee headed by managing director of Delhi Transco Limited.
Officials claim that the blast occurred in a transformer of the Bawana gas-based power plant. The inquiry committee is expected to give its report within a week.
