Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, Home Minister H D R Lyngdoh and Urban Affairs Minister A M Lyngdoh laid flower wreaths to honour them at the 1st MLP Battalion at Mawiong, near here.
Saluting the two 'commandos' who were trained to take on anti-national elements in the state, Mukul said for their sacrifice, their next of kin would be given ex-gratia and other payments as the police personnel who died in action.
Constable Kumbinon Mawlong and constable Dannyboy Nongkhlaw were part of 116 special police personnel who were undergoing specialized "commando" training on counter insurgency operations at the ITBP training centre at Dehradun.
Both were reported drown on September 15 noon while negotiating a watery obstacle, police said even as a high level inquiry has been ordered to probe the incident.
