Meghan Markle today confirmed that her father will not walk her down the aisle during her royal wedding with Prince Harry, ending days of speculation about his presence during the much-awaited ceremony.
"Sadly my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can give the space he needs to focus on his health," Kensington Palace tweeted her statement.
"I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday," she said.
Markle's 73-year-old father has successfully undergone the heart surgery that prevented him from attending her wedding, celebrity news website TMZ said today.
Thomas Markle revealed yesterday that he was undergoing heart surgery and would not be able to walk his daughter down the aisle.
Her father's attendance at the ceremony at Windsor Castle on May 19 has been speculated on widely following allegations he posed for staged paparazzi photos.
