Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today expressed concern over the plight of border residents and those living in the Valley who have been affected by the nearly four month-long unrest, and hoped peace returns, as she greeted people on eve of Diwali.
"I am concerned over the plight of hapless border residents and the people in Kashmir valley who are entangled in an agonising situation. I hope that all the right-thinking people will strive towards making peace a reality in and around Jammu and Kashmir," Mehbooba said in her greetings on the eve of Diwali.
The chief minister said the people of the state have suffered a great deal due to violence and there is a need for peace.
"We have suffered too much and too long, let us strive towards healing the wound and bringing peace in the lives of our people and ensure prosperity of our future generations," she said.
Mehbooba expressed hope that the festival of lights would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"On this auspicious occasion I wish and pray that all good values of love, compassion, tolerance, mutual respect and brotherhood become hallmark of our society to take forward the state on the path of progress, prosperity and lasting peace," she said.
