The incident took place between Ashapur and Roshni villages in the district.
The grain merchant identified as Hukumchand Rathore was on his way back to his village Padlaya after selling goods worth Rs five lakh in the weekly market in Patajan village when he was shot at from behind by two masked men with a country made pistol, Harsud town's Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), Manohar Gavli said.
The injured grain merchant was admitted to the district hospital after initial treatment at Harsud Primary Health Centre.
