Merritt Wever's short but adorable speech at Emmys has become a hit but the actress did manage to thank people backstage after hastly exiting the stage following her win for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy for 'Nurse Jackie'.
Wever looked shocked as her named was announced as the winner.
"Thanks so much. Thank you so much," she said while fumbling with the card presenters Amy Poehler and Tina Fey had just pulled out of an envelope.
The 33-year-old actress first checked her name on the card and looked like she was ready for a speech but all she said was: "I gotta go. Bye."
Her abrupt exit left the Emmy audience laughing and even host Neil Patrick Harris mentioned it.
"Merritt Wever, best speech ever," he said.
A more composed Wever said she wanted to thank a lot of people.
"I want to thank a lot of people - it's happening again. I wanted to thank everyone at Showtime. I wanted to thank most of all Edie Falco," she said.
The shock of winning the trophy was too much for the actress. When asked what the award meant to her, she came up with another interesting reply: "I don't know yet. I'm scared, honestly. I'm scared. I'm scared because it was unexpected. I don't know how to feel yet. I have therapy next week.
