Former Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had on April 22 approved sending of a fresh extradition request regarding Davy to the Denmark government, Minister of State for External Affairs Gen V K Singh said in a written reply.
Following the decision, DIG and Head of Branch, CBI (SCB) Kolkata has submitted a fresh extradition proposal of Davy to the Home Ministry on June 24.

The minister said that a meeting between Danish and Indian delegates was held on March 7 last year here to explain the legal position related to the extradition issue.
"The Danish delegation informed that the Indian government may make a fresh attempt if any new facts had arisen in the case apart from those already brought out in the earlier request made in April 2002," he said.
In July 2011, the Danish high court had rejected the extradition of Davy on the ground that he faced the risk of being subjected to torture or other inhuman treatment in India.
