MHA has nothing to do with row over Gamlin: Home Secy

The Union Home Ministry today steered clear of the controversy over appointment of senior IAS officer Shakuntala Gamlin as Delhi's acting Chief Secretary saying it has nothing to do with it.
"The Home Ministry has nothing to do with it. The Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister are competent enough to handle the situation," Union Home Secretary L C Goyal told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
Goyal was responding to questions over Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's objection to the appointment of Gamlin by LG Najeeb Jung as acting Chief Secretary.
Official sources said the LG has informally briefed the Home Ministry about the situation arising out of Gamlin's appointment.

The Ministry, sources said, advised Jung to act as per the Constitution.
Jung is at loggerheads with Kejriwal over the appointment of Gamlin as acting Chief Secretary with the Chief Minister having opposed the LG's action.
The Kejriwal government has attacked BJP accusing it of attempting to stage a coup through the LG.
