DreamWorks Studios has acquired the feature film rights to the late author's novel, with Frank Marshall on board to produce, reported Deadline.
"Micro" was unfinished when the "Jurrasic Park" writer passed away in 2008. Publisher HarperCollins later chose science writer Richard Preston to complete the novel which was published in 2011.
"We are so pleased to have this opportunity to develop Micro," the "Jurassic Park" filmmaker Steven Spielberg said in a statement.
"Micro" is a high-concept thriller that follows a group of graduate students lured to Hawaii to work for a mysterious biotech company-only to find themselves miniaturized and cast out into the rain forest, with nothing but their scientific expertise and wits to protect them.
