The 26-year-old singer said he grew up listening to him, reported Contactmusic.
His second studio album, Beauty Behind the Madness, has been compared to Jackson's Thriller
"He's a part of my family. When I was born, that was the music my mother was listening to. Michael Jackson is a third parent to me," he said.
Quincy Jones, who produced 1982 record Thriller, was won over by The Weeknd when they met in Las Vegas in 2015, with the 83-year-old describing the younger man as sincere and down-to-earth.
He supported Taylor Swift during her The 1989 World Tour, and the singer has nothing but praise for the silky-voiced star and his impact on music industry.
