Pop star Miley Cyrus' new single 'We Can't Stop' was originally intended for R&B star Rihanna, according to producer Mike Will Made-It.
The hitmaker, who previously crafted tracks for rappers 2 Chainz and Juicy J, reveals the song was one of two club tracks he had lined up for 'Umbrella' hitmaker Rihanna while working on her 2012 release, Unapologetic, reported MTV online.
"When I originally worked on We Can't Stop, we had did it (sic) for Rihanna. The idea was more towards Rihanna. She heard Pour It Up right away, and she didn't even hear We Can't Stop," Mike said.
He then presented the track to label bosses at Sony Music, who believed it was "perfect" for Cyrus' next album - and the former child star has since injected her own attitude to make the single her own.
"They played it for her, she liked it... We went in (to the studio), she nailed the record, and she did it with her swag. So it sounds totally different than from what we originally tried to come up with," Mike added.
Ironically, many music experts have suggested Cyrus' new track sounds like a Rihanna tune.
