Ishtiyaq Ahmad Paswal (30), a sarpanch of Halqa Zrakan, was attacked by unidentified militants near Vishroo in Keller area of Shopian, 55 kms from here late last night, a police spokesman said.
Hailing from Shalidar-Zrakan village, Paswal received multiple bullet injuries in both of his legs.
He was rushed to district hospital Shopian and was later shifted to Bones and Joint hospital here for further treatment, he said.
He said police has launched a hunt to nab the militants involved in the attack.
No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the incident.
