As a precursor to the Independence Day celebrations, the Jammu-based 'Tiger Division' of the Army organised a military band display and special light and sound show, leaving the audience here enthralled, a defence spokesman said today.

The 'Tiger Division' organised the event at the iconic 'Balidan Stambh' last evening in true military elan, paying a befitting tribute to the heroism of fallen comrades, reminiscing a saga of unparalleled valour and gallant acts of the soldiers, while safeguarding the frontiers of the country, the spokesman said.

He said the event being open to public was heavily subscribed.

"It was witnessed by General Officer Commanding, Tiger Division, Major General Sanjay Singh, a large number of Army and civil administration dignitaries, students, women and children," the spokesman said.

He said the large audiences were enthralled by the synchronised display of four pipe bands of the Army playing scintillating martial tunes.

The light and sound show was also witnessed by a large fraternity of Jammu including students, the spokesman said.

He said the audience was captivated by the commentary and laser lights highlighting the eternal flame and 60m high tower symbolising a bayoneted rifle.
