The participants shouted "I for India" all along the 5 km stretch between Janata Maidan and Kalinga Stadium in the temple city.
Similar marathons were simultaneously held in several cities across the country today, organisers said in a statement.
The event here was organised by Navaratna PSU NALCO, which in turn drafted in more than 100 organisations and institutions. Hundreds of enthusiastic youngsters came forward voluntarily to join the event, a Nalco statement said.
Odisha Governor S C Jamir flagged off the marathon in the presence of Bhubaneswar MP, Prasanna Patasani and Nalco CMD Tapan Kumar Chand, it said.
The concluding function was graced by Sudam Marandi, Odisha's Minister for Sports and Youth Services, Prasanna Patasani, MP, heads of various corporate houses and institutions. Noted sportspersons and celebrities took part in the run.
