Minimum temperature rises in Punjab, Haryana

Minimum temperature in most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh today rose by up to four notches above normal even as fog and mist prevailed in the region.
The minimum temperature hovered between one to four degrees celsius above normal in most parts of the region, the MeT office said here.
In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Amritsar was the coldest place with a low of 4.8 degrees celsius, two notches above normal.
While in Bhiwani the minimum settled at a low of five degrees celsius, the night temperature in Hisar was 7.1 degrees celsius, one notch above normal.
Among other places, Patiala and Karnal recorded an identical low of 7.4 degrees celsius followed by 7.7 degrees celsius in Ambala, one notch above normal and 8.1 degrees celsius in Ludhiana, one notch above normal.
The minimum temperature in Chandigarh was 9.2 degrees celsius, three notches above normal while in Narnaul the mercury settled at a low of 9.5 degrees celsius, four notches above normal.
Meanwhile, several places in the region, including Karnal, Amritsar and Ludhiana faced foggy weather and misty conditions in the morning.
The MeT office has forecast rains or thundershowers at some places in the region in view of western disturbances.
