Minimum temperatures drop in Himachal Pradesh

Cold wave conditions continued in parts of Himachal Pradesh today as minimum temperatures dropped further and stayed two to five degrees below normal.
A medium avalanche threat loomed large over the tribal and other higher hill area with the people being asked to take precautions.
Meanwhile the traffic movement on the Hindustan-Tibet National Highway was restored after five days as the road between Pangi Nallah and Kasang Nallah was cleared.
Whereas, fresh snowfall hampered the clearance work on Manali-Rohtang-Keylong highway.
Keylong and Kalpa in Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur districts recorded their minimum temperatures at -2.1 and and 1 degrees Celsius respectively, while Manali shivered at 2.8 degrees Celsius, the MeT Department said here.

Bhuntar recorded a low of 8.0 degree Celsius, followed by 8.5 and 8.8 degrees Celsius in Solan and Shimla respectively.
There was no significant change in day temperatures and Una was the hottest in the region with a high of 34.6 degrees Celsius.
The recent rains and hailstorm has caused extensive damage to crops and property and as per preliminary assessment, the loss was estimated at Rs 35 crore, Shimla Deputy Commissioner Rohan Chand Thakur said.
