Odisha, T'gana sizzle; isolated areas in J-K witness rain,

Isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed rainfall and snow even as heat wave conditions persisted in many places of Odisha, while parts of northern plains experienced moderate temperatures.
The Srinagar-Jammu national highway, connecting Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country, which remained closed for four days due to landslide triggered by rain and snowfall, opened today for one-way traffic.
It was a pleasant day in the national capital with the maximum temperature settling at 32.6 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average.
The minimum temperature dropped to 19.4 degrees Celsius.
Heat wave conditions persisted in many places of Odisha with Bhawanipatna recording the highest maximum temperature of 42.7 degrees Celsius in the state.

The mercury hovered above 40 degrees Celsius in at least 11 places, mostly in western Odisha, while the coastal areas experienced overcast conditions, the MeT department said.

Titlagarh recorded maximum temperature of 42.5 degrees Celsius followed by 42 degrees Celsius in Balangir, Jharsuguda and Malkangiri.
Hirakud registered a high of 41.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature in Sambalpur was 41.2 degrees Celsius.
In Telangana, Nizamabad and Ramagundam the highest maximum temperature of 42.4 degree Celsius. Adilabad recorded a high of 42 degree Celsius, followed by Medak 41.6 degree Celsius and Mahabubnagar 41.5 degree Celsius.
The state capital Hyderabad recorded maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius.

Maximum temperatures in both Punjab and Haryana hovered below the normal limits, with Chandigarh, the capital of both the states, recording a high of 30 degrees Celsius.
Amritsar recorded a high of 30.6 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana and Patiala registered their maximum temperatures at 31.7 degrees Celsius and 31.3 degrees Celsius respectively, the MeT department said.
In Haryana, the mercury in Ambala settled at 31.3 degrees Celsius and Hisar registered a maximum temperature of 34.2 degrees Celsius.
In Bihar, the weather remained mainly dry with the state capital Patna recording maximum temperature of 38.4 degrees Celsius.
Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnea also registered maximum temperatures one to two degree Celsius above their normal.

Many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal and Kerala witnessed rainfall.
Maximum temperatures were above normal in parts of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha region.
