Minister's official car issued challan for flouting rules

The official car of state water resources department minister Vinod Palyekar was today issued a challan by the transport department when it was caught overtakinganother vehicle on Mandovi bridge.
"An incident happened in Goa while I am on an official visit out of the state. My official vehicle driven by my driver was found overtaking another vehicle on Mandovi bridge in Panaji," Palyekar told PTI.
"As public servants it should be our priority to lead by an example. On knowing about this incident I have personally spoken to concerned officials in the directorate of transport and instructed them to act according to law as such incidents should not happen in future," he said.

The minister confirmed that his driver paid a fine of Rs 600.
The state government car overtaking another vehicle on Mandovi bridge was captured on camera by a fellow traveller.
Social activist Aires Rodrigues uploaded the video of the speeding car on social media and also spoke to superintendent of police (traffic) Devesh Kumar Mahala complaining about the incident.
