Konathala Uday, son of Srinivasa Rao, a Anakapalle-based financier was abducted yesterday following which Rao filed a complaint with police saying the kidnappers demanded Rs 1 lakh as ransom, Inspector of Anakapalle Town, G Chandra said.
Uday is a student of first standard.
Rao received an an anonymous phone call at around 7.30 PM yesterday wherein the caller tried to extract information like his name, profession and other family details, he said.
Rao received another call at around at 8.20 PM stating that his son had been abducted, the officer added.
We are suspecting that somebody known to Uday's family or somebody within Rao's business circle might be involved in the crime, Chandra said, adding investigations are underway.
