The incident took place last evening in village Bhuse when the victim Ganesh Pote was playing outside his house, an official at Niphad police station said.
Ganesh was playing in the presence of his grandfather and other relatives when the feline suddenly took him away and mauled him to death, he said.
His body was handed over to family members after post mortem, the official added.
The incident created panic among villagers who have demanded forest department officials to catch the leopard at the earliest.
