NTPC signs MoU with Odisha govt for setting up of ITI

NTPC today signed a MoU with the Odisha government for setting up of an ITI (Industrial Training Institute) at an investment of Rs 7.72 crore in Ganjam district.
The ITI would be established at Bhusanda in Shergarh area of Ganjam district. The ITI was expected to be operational during 2016-17 with all infrastructure in readiness.
While Arvind Kumar, regional executive signed the agreement on behalf of NTPC in presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Pramod Kumar Panda, director of Technical Education and Training represented the state government.
According to the agreement, the state government will provide suitable land at the location free of cost to NTPC for the purpose. The ITI will be constructed by the NTPC with the capital expenditure of Rs 7.72 crore which included the cost of civil work for workshop, academic building, hostel building as well as plant and machineries for a strength of 200 students.
The trades of fitter, electrician and welder will be operated in the ITI initially with accreditation of quality council of India followed by affiliation of National Council for Vocational Training, an official said.
The proposed ITI will have Advanced Vocational Training facilities in manufacturing, automobile, electricals and others to cater the high-end finishing skill training need of trained candidates, training of trainers with support of NTPC Limited and the state government.
"The need based trades of short term duration will also be operated through optimum utilisation of resources," an official said adding that 30 per cent of the sanctioned strength will be reserved for admission of the project affected persons and their wards of NTPC project and other nearby NTPC projects, wards of NTPC employees and other candidates as recommended by NTPC.
