Two persons were injured Monday in a minor fight that broke out between two groups of students inside the Jamia Millia Islamia, the police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said the police were informed around 5 pm that some students have been surrounded by other students at SRK Masjid inside the varsity.
"Enquiry revealed that it was a quarrel between two groups of students in which two students sustained simple injuries. Legal action is being taken," he said.
The officer said the action is being taken on statement of one student whose medical examination was carried out.
Two persons have been detained, he said.
Police have been deployed outside the varsity campus to ensure no untoward incident happens.
