A 14-year-old girl was caught by four youths when she was going towards a field early in the morning. They dragged the girl to nearby bushes and gangraped her near Gulabbag Mandi, Purnia Sadar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Manoj Kumar said.
The SDPO said she was found unconscious and bleeding profusely by local villagers after her widowed mother started looking for her. They informed the police about the incident.
The survivor has been admitted to a government hospital.
The four youths have been identified and raids were being conducted to arrest them, the SDPO said.
Dhamdaha Additional Superintendent of Police Dilnawaz Ahmad said one Rana Chand had been arrested.
