Much to the delight of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq and senior batsman Younis Khan spent the last two days at a training camp in Lahore, guiding the youngsters.
The members of the Pakistan A squad, set to visit Sri Lanka later this month and the national T20 and Test squads for the Bangladesh tour are all training together at the Gaddafi stadium and National cricket academy in Lahore.
Misbah and Younis, who will join the Test squad in Bangladesh soon, have been seen sparing a lot of time guiding the younger players.
"It is a heartening sight to see Misbah and Younis who are stalwarts spend time giving tips to the bowlers and batsmen in the camp," one Pakistan Cricket Board official.
He said Misbah and Younis had both spent time watching the youngsters bowl and bat both with the white ball and red balls.
"They gave some tips to the younger batsmen like Mukhtar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Umer Siddiq, Shan Masood, Umar Amin, Ali Waqas,. Zafar Gohar and Usman Salahuddin while Ahmed Shehzad also joined them," the official said.
Younis has in the past said he is interested in taking up a coaching career after retirement while Misbah has also indicated he will also retire from Test cricket in a year's time.
Chief selector, Haroon Rasheed said he was happy to see Misbah and Younis giving time to the other players.
"In the past, post World Cup scenario we are formulating a long term strategy to prepare back up talent for the senior teams and have more junior tours which are of great importance to us. So to see seniors like Misbah and Younis take such interest is indeed very heartening and helpful for us and to the youngsters," he said.
