Purulia superintendent of police Nelkanth Sudhir Kumar said Jayanta Kumar's body bore bullet wounds and those afflicted by sharp weapons.
The body of Kumar, Congress anchal sabapati who went missing on Sunday, was sighted by locals in the forest near his village Deuli, about 50 km from here, this morning.
Congress had filed a named FIR against 11 Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers for Kumar's disapperance and one of the accused was arrested today, the SP said.
While the police claimed that the killing was due to land dispute, local Congress MLA and the party's contender for Purulia parliamentary seat this time Nepal Mahto filed a complaint with the police alleging inactivity on its part had led to the killing.
