Government-run MMTC Ltd today said
it has suspended Director (Finance) M G Gupta, whose name had allegedly cropped up in the NSEL scam.
"...In terms of communication received from the Department of Commerce, M G Gupta, Director (Finance) of MMTC Ltd has been placed under suspension wef November 7," the company informed the BSE.
Although the firm did not disclose the reason to the BSE for suspension, sources said that it could be linked to the NSEL scam.
They said that Gupta, whose tenure was to end in December, has sought extension of two more months.
The nearly Rs 5,600-crore payment and settlement crisis at the National Spot Exchange Ltd (NSEL) came to light in late 2013.
