MMTC swings into black with Rs 19 cr profit

State-run trading firm MMTC today swung into black, reporting a net profit of Rs 19.14 crore for the December quarter on the back of lower expenses.
The company had reported a net loss of Rs 20.76 crore in the corresponding period of 2014.
However, its net income from operations in the third quarter declined sharply to Rs 3,617 crore from Rs 5,548 crore in the year-ago period, MMTC said in a regulatory filing.
Total expenses during the quarter under review also came down significantly to Rs 3,623 crore from Rs 5,558 crore in the year-ago period.
MMTC's shares closed at Rs 35.65, down 4.04 per cent on the BSE.
