Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists thrashed a man in suburban Ghatkopar for allegedly writing an objectionable post about party president Raj Thackeray on social media, police said Monday.
In the video of the April 8 incident, which has gone viral on social media, MNS workers are seen entering the residence of the man in Ghatkopar (East) and beating him in front of his family members.
The party has also posted the video on its official Facebook page.
The clip also shows MNS workers abusing the man, who appears to be in his late 30, for posting derogatory comments against Thackeray, and forcing him to seek pardon from the people of Maharashtra, the party and its president.
The man was also forced to do sit-ups.
The MNS Facebook page termed the man as a "blind supporter" of the BJP and a "self-proclaimed Chowkidar".
The party said the man was taken to Pantnagar police station, where a non-cognisable offence was registered.
"If anybody speaks bad about the MNS chief, we are ready to thrash him by entering his residence," the MNS posted on its Facebook page.
